Datacon Core Imaging Inc

Datacon was conceived out of a need for a combination of proper core and sample storage and the design, development and management of such core facilities. As these facilities were being developed, it became obvious that the store of core and sample would only be available for viewing by consultants who had easy and ready access to the aforementioned facilities.

One of the potential solutions was to digitally capture images of the core and make them available to those who would be unable to visit the facilities. Further research showed that these images could be transmitted over the internet in JPEG form, however, the size of the files made the images slow to load. Datacon decided to undertake the task of writing software which could make downloading almost instantaneous. Furthermore to this, images would be able to be magnified up to 32x depending on the resolution of the image.
